Autumn leaves fall slowly

On concrete hearts

Truth hurts,

like left straights connecting

on glass jaws

Rain blindly drenches all,

seeped between cracks of dry soil

and cold, soaked wrinkled fingers

Pain fades like

Japanese sunrays

and koi fishes on torsos

Will breaks,

like chapped lips on cruel winters

Minds wander,

vast stretches of desert seas

Imaginations lethal,

when downed straight with no chaser

Hope resides,

like Sunday morning hangover

Suffering is worn,

like women’s wombs, on slaves backs,

and in pharaohs tombs

souls born twice,

like blunts split, lit and passed

in alleyways,

dim lights climax prematurely

then fade to black
